Huh, weren’t there tons of manga nominated last year? Off the top of my head I distinctly remember Zipang, Kiitchi, Witches and the eventual-winner-whose-name-I-can’t-remember, and there were more besides those. Maybe I mixed the other categories with the Official Selection. But its cool that Tekkon got nominated.
Oh, and I don’t know if you just missed this but josei-pioneer Kyoko Okazaki’s Helter Skelter was also included in the official selection (its the cover with boobies!) Yet another reason to be jealous of the French: Helter Skelter is one of the best manga I’ve ever read.

I did miss Helter Skelter, thanks! And looking back on a Flipped column I put together about last year’s nominees, there were about nine Japanese titles in the Official Selection category.
