Promotion self-promotion

So I’ve got a spiffy new title over at Comic World News. I’m now the “Manga Editor” for the site, though I haven’t yet figured out precisely how I’m going to abuse the awesome power of that position.

But, it seems as good a time as any to remind any publishers out there that press releases, tantalizing gossip and scathing appraisals of my priorities are always welcome and can be forwarded to DavidPWelsh at Yahoo dot Com.

I sent to this Simon via email, but he might not have read it yet, or just didn’t care. :/

According to Emi Chusiano at AMLA, Yuuhi Publishing – a
major BL novel publisher – has let go of all their employees today. Yuuhi had two novel lines aimed at teens – Leaf and Ai. They’re expected to formally file for bankruptcy within a few days.

They were unable to keep up with an explosion of new novel labels in the last few years. Leaf only published large, expensive novels unlike the other pubs who were selling the Bunko size light novels.

In other gossipy style newz: Mangaka Asami Tojo was selling original manga art on Yahoo Japan Auction, the art was from her Tokuma Shoten, Chara series Haginokouji Seiya-sama no Ran. The problem? Even though the rights expired with Tokuma Shoten, she failed to inform the writer [you know–those evil writers that manga artists don’t need!] that she was selling arts from the project they SHARED copyright on [writer is Koh Akizuki of Fujimi Orchestra.] Tojo pulled down the auction.
